Building community while elected officials and bureaucrats accountable

Solano Watch Community Voices Series is a non partisan platform that puts on events focused on open discussion, education, and civic participation, while encouraging real engagement with the decisions shaping our communities.

Speakers include politicians, business owners, watchdogs, activists, educators, and residents. All are encouraged to share perspectives on local issues, how and why decisions are made, what they believe the role of government is or should be, and where community based solutions fit in. Conversations also explore who is affected by these decisions, where responsibility and accountability truly sit, the balance between local control, community input and outside influence, and the real world impact and cost of policy choices.

There will be a variety of event formats. Some will be speaking engagements with structured segments, followed by opportunities for the audience to ask questions after all speakers have presented. These are not debates. Separate events will be specifically designed for debates, while others will focus on open discussion and brainstorming. Each event will bring together a diverse range of people with different ideas and perspectives.

Our speaking engagements are designed for lively yet respectful dialogue. No personal attacks allowed. We encourage open conversation and better understanding across different perspectives, along with honest discussion, clear viewpoints, and thoughtful disagreement that helps people better understand how decisions are made and who ultimately lives with them. Personal attacks are not welcomed. These events are set up for conversation, education, and community building.
